ABSTRAK

Implementasi enkripsi pada aplikasi mobile adalah proses komputasi yang dapat mengganggu kinerja dan mempengaruhi pengalaman pengguna. Tujuan dari studi kasus ini adalah untuk melakukan analisis kinerja komparatif antara dua paradigma enkripsi: block cipher AES-256 dan stream cipher Salsa20. Eksperimen kuantitatif digunakan sebagai metode penelitian. Sebuah aplikasi berbasis Flutter yang berfungsi dibangun dengan backend smart contract di jaringan Ethereum Sepolia sebagai lingkungan pengujian. Parameter gas yang digunakan dan latensi enkripsi dan dekripsi digunakan untuk mengukur kinerja. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan perbedaan kinerja: Salsa20 unggul dalam kecepatan enkripsi dan efisiensi biaya gas, sementara AES-256 menunjukkan kecepatan dekripsi yang jauh lebih tinggi berkat akselerasi perangkat keras. Berdasarkan analisis perbedaan ini, AES-256 disarankan untuk aplikasi ini karena memprioritaskan pengalaman pengguna yang responsif saat membaca catatan (yang merupakan interaksi palsu).

ABSTRACT

Implementing encryption in mobile applications is a computational process that can interfere with performance and affect user experience. The purpose of this case study is to conduct a comparative performance analysis between two encryption paradigms: the AES-256 block cipher and the Salsa20 stream cipher. Quantitative experiments were used. A functional Flutter-based application was built with a smart contract backend on the Ethereum Sepolia network as the testing environment. Gas parameters and encryption and decryption latency were used to measure performance. The test results showed differences in performance: Salsa20 excelled in encryption speed and gas cost efficiency, while AES-256 showed significantly higher decryption speed thanks to hardware acceleration. Based on this analysis, AES-256 is recommended for this application because it prioritizes a responsive user experience when reading records (which is a fake interaction).
