PERANCANGAN ANIMASI 3 DIMENSI SEBAGAI MEDIA PENDUKUNG PEMBELAJARAN ANATOMI TIPOGRAFI KELAS X SMKN 2 KOTA BANDUNG

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman siswa kelas X SMKN 2 Kota Bandung terhadap anatomi huruf dalam mata pelajaran dasar-dasar desain komunikasi visual (DKV) yang selama ini disampaikan melalui metode konvensional dengan keterbatasan media interaktif. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merancang media pendukung pembelajaran berupa animasi 3D interaktif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa mengenai anatomi tipografi, meliputi baseline, x-height, ascender, descender, counter, dan cap height. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Design Thinking dengan tahapan empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi capaian pembelajaran, wawancara, kuesioner, serta pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian berupa produk animasi 3D interaktif yang mampu menyajikan materi anatomi tipografi secara visual, dinamis, dan menarik. Uji coba menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman sekaligus motivasi belajar siswa setelah menggunakan media ini. Dengan demikian, animasi 3D berbasis Design Thinking dapat menjadi alternatif solusi yang inovatif dan efektif dalam mendukung pembelajaran tipografi di tingkat SMK.

ABSTRACT

This research is motivated by the low level of understanding among tenth-grade students at SMKN 2 Bandung regarding letter anatomy in the subject of basic visual communication design (DKV), which has so far been delivered through conventional methods with limited interactive media. Therefore, this study designed a 3D animation-based learning medium to enhance students’ comprehension of typographic anatomy, including baseline, x-height, ascender, descender, counter, and cap height. The research method employed is Design Thinking, consisting of the stages empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data were collected through observation of learning outcomes, interviews, questionnaires, as well as pre-tests and post-tests. The result of this research is an interactive 3D animation product that presents typographic anatomy in a visual, dynamic, and engaging manner. Trial implementation demonstrated an increase in both students’ understanding and learning motivation after using this medium. Thus, 3D animation based on Design Thinking can serve as an innovative and effective solution to support typography learning at the vocational high school level.
