ABSTRAK

Bahasa Sunda merupakan bahasa daerah kedua terbanyak di Indonesia dengan 27 juta penutur aktif, namun eksistensinya menghadapi tantangan di era globalisasi akibat dominasi bahasa nasional dan asing dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan. Kondisi ini menyebabkan generasi muda cenderung kurang terbiasa atau bahkan tidak memahami bahasa Sunda dengan baik, sehingga menciptakan tantangan dalam pelestarian budaya dan identitas lokal. Diperlukan pendekatan teknologi digital yang mampu menjangkau generasi digital untuk mendukung pelestarian bahasa Sunda. Penelitian ini mengembangkan chatbot berbasis Artificial Intelligence (AI) yang mampu berkomunikasi secara interaktif dalam bahasa Sunda dengan fitur Text-to-Speech (TTS) dan Voice-to-Voice (VTV) melalui platform Telegram. Metode pengembangan menggunakan pendekatan prototyping dengan memanfaatkan teknologi Natural Language Processing (NLP) untuk memahami input pengguna, AI Gemini sebagai engine percakapan kontekstual dan protokol MTProto untuk komunikasi yang optimal. Chatbot dirancang untuk menangani kompleksitas Undak-usuk basa dalam bahasa Sunda dengan mempertimbangkan konteks sosial dan budaya. Sistem menerima masukan berupa teks atau suara dan menghasilkan keluaran dalam bentuk audio sehingga pengguna dapat mendengarkan pengucapan bahasa Sunda yang mendekati aslinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa chatbot dapat menjadi alternatif media teknologi inovatif untuk berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Sunda di era digital, sekaligus berkontribusi dalam pelestarian bahasa daerah melalui platform yang mudah diakses dan familiar bagi masyarakat.

ABSTRACT

Sundanese is the second most spoken regional language in Indonesia with 27 million active speakers, but its existence faces challenges in the globalization era due to the dominance of national and foreign languages in various aspects of life. This condition causes the younger generation to tend to be unfamiliar or even not understand Sundanese properly, creating challenges in preserving local culture and identity. A digital technology approach that can reach the digital generation is needed to support Sundanese language preservation. This research develops an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based chatbot capable of interactive communication in Sundanese with Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Voice-to-Voice (VTV) features through the Telegram platform. The development method uses a prototyping approach by utilizing Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology to understand user input, AI Gemini as a contextual conversation engine, and MTProto protocol for optimal communication. The chatbot is designed to handle the complexity of Undak-usuk basa in Sundanese by considering social and cultural contexts. The system accepts text or voice input and produces audio output so users can hear Sundanese pronunciation that closely resembles the original. The research results show that the chatbot can be an innovative technological media alternative for communicating in Sundanese in the digital era, while contributing to regional language preservation through platforms that are easily accessible and familiar to the community.
