ANALISIS KINERJA FORWARDING MODE PADA WIRELESS CONTROLLER RUIJIE

ABSTRAK

Perkembangan teknologi jaringan nirkabel memegang peranan penting dalam mendukung komunikasi digital, khususnya pada aplikasi video conference yang kini menjadi kebutuhan utama di berbagai sektor. Wireless controller seperti Ruijie berfungsi mengelola akses dan pengaturan jaringan secara efisien, dengan dua mode forwarding utama, yaitu central forwarding dan local forwarding. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan kualitas layanan Quality of Service (QoS) antara kedua mode forwarding tersebut pada aplikasi video conference populer seperti Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, dan Discord. Metode penelitian meliputi studi literatur, perencanaan topologi jaringan, instalasi, konfigurasi perangkat, serta pengujian penggunaan aplikasi dengan pengukuran parameter QoS seperti throughput, delay, jitter, dan packet loss. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa mode local forwarding memberikan performa yang lebih baik secara konsisten pada hampir semua parameter QoS. Pada aplikasi Google Meet, delay rata-rata mode local forwarding tercatat sebesar 6,27 ms, lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan centralized forwarding yang mencapai 9,46 ms. Jitter pada local forwarding sebesar 8,07 ms juga lebih kecil dibanding jitter pada central forwarding yang mencapai 10,99 ms, hal tersebut menunjukkan kestabilan waktu pengiriman data yang lebih baik. Throughput pada aplikasi Zoom pada mode local forwarding mencapai 1277 Kbps, hampir dua kali lipat dibanding throughput 671,1 Kbps dari mode central forwarding, sehingga mendukung bandwidth aplikasi secara lebih optimal. Selain itu, packet loss pada kedua mode tetap sangat rendah dan tidak berbeda secara signifikan, sehingga kestabilan jaringan tetap terjaga. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa mode local forwarding mengoptimalkan performa jaringan wireless sehingga pengalaman video conference menjadi lebih lancar dan efisien.

ABSTRACT

The development of wireless network technology plays a crucial role in supporting digital communication, particularly in video conferencing applications which have become essential in various sectors. Wireless controllers such as Ruijie efficiently manage network access and configuration through two main forwarding modes: centralized forwarding and local forwarding. This study aims to analyze the comparison of Quality of Service (QoS) between these two forwarding modes on popular video conferencing applications including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Discord. The research methods include literature review, network topology planning, device installation and configuration, and application testing by measuring QoS parameters such as throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss.The test results indicate that the local forwarding mode consistently delivers better performance across almost all QoS parameters. For example, in Google Meet, the average delay in local forwarding is 6.27 ms, which is lower than the 9.46 ms delay in centralized forwarding. The jitter in local forwarding is 8.07 ms, also smaller than the 10.99 ms jitter observed in centralized forwarding, indicating better stability in data transmission time. Throughput for Zoom in local forwarding mode reaches 1277 Kbps, nearly twice the 671.1 Kbps throughput in centralized forwarding, thus supporting application bandwidth more optimally. Additionally, packet loss in both modes remains very low and shows no significant difference, maintaining network stability. These findings confirm that local forwarding optimizes wireless network performance, resulting in smoother and more efficient video conferencing experiences.
